Cookoo's Nest 2

At this point in the story, I feel that McMurphy is winning the rivalry. While the Big Nurse has scared many of the patients into following her, McMurphy has still disrupted the order. He messes up the schedule, especially over the World Series, and this frustrates the Big Nurse. He loves to cause problems with humor, and this makes the Big Nurse mad. So, McMurphy is on top because he is so disruptive and humorous.

I view the chief as a sort of desperate and helpless character. He pretends to be deaf, but McMurphy knows he isn't.  However, he enjoys talking about McMurphy and finds him funny. He seems happier with McMurphy around. He is almost amazed at the things that McMurphy does to defy order. he narrates in a more amused and amazed way.

I'm rooting for McMurphy because the Big Nurse is so grumpy and strict that I want to see somebody upset her for once. She always gets her way, and I enjoy watching her frustration build as McMurphy defies her.
