Cookoo's Nest 1

Hero-  McMurphy is the protagonist and the hero. He is a silly, carefree character that we can all relate to. We can relate to him because he is not actually crazy, but he pretends to be. He is trying to work against Nurse Ratched, who is in charge of the institution. he is trying to help all of the other patients." Yessir, that's what i came to this establishment for, to bring you birds fun an' entertainment around the gamin table" p. 11 He is the only person in the story with a true, nice, and happy personality.

Anit-Hero-The aids and supervisors - The aids have good intentions because they are nurses, and trying to help these people recover. However, the evil nurse Ratched is in charge, and she makes them be mean to the patients. It's her fault the patients are treated so horribly. The aids aren't harsh on purpose, but they have been trained by Ratched. Their cruel ways prevent Ratched from succeeding, but they have good intentions." Year by year she accumulates her ideal staff: doctors, all ages and types, come and rise up in front of her with ideas of their own about the way a ward should be run, some with backbone enough to stand behind their ideas, and she fixes these doctors with dry-ice eyes day in, day out, until they retreat with unnatural chills."

Villan- Nurse Ratched is definitely the villan, She works against the protagonist/hero, and everybody hates her. She is mean and cruel because she treats the patients so badly. She is a very strict person who tries to stop the hero from reaching his goals. " She goes into a crouch and advances on where they're trapped in a huddle at the end if the corridor. She knows what they been saying, and i can see she's furious clean out of control." p. 5
