SOAPSTone and painting

S-the subject is a man hard at work with another man
O-middle of the day; it looks hot; in a field
A-people above the working class
P-The artist is trying to convey that some people have to work for the same life others just get by default.
S-Maybe he had experience in a situation like this, so he was relate able
T-it makes you think and wonder; depressing; sad

The big idea the artist wants you to think about is how some people are treated differently because of their race, or the working class has it much harder than everyone else. This leads to the point that people should be grateful, not snobby, for not being part of the working class. The working man is bent over, tired, and wiped out. It looks hot outside, so I am sure he is not enjoying this. He doesn't have a choice though because he needs the money.

  1. Very nice job overall, Emory. :) I can definitely see and agree with your interpretation of the painting.

Grammatically, I did notice two areas for improvement. "The big idea the artist wants you to think about how some people are treated differently because of their race, or the working class has it much harder than everyone else." You've deleted your verb in this sentence. It needs the verb "is." "The big idea the artist wants you to think about [is] how some people are treated differently because of their race, or the working class has it much harder than everyone else."

Also, you have a sentence fragment. "Which leads to the point that people should be grateful and not snobby by not being part of the working class." This is a dependent clause. It should be attached to the previous independent clause.
